homemade applesauce

Make applesauce.  Today.  Seriously do it.

It will make your mouth, heart and stomach so happy.  It will take you about half an hour.  20 minutes of that- it’s on the stove and you do nothing.  So let’s be serious- it will take you 10 minutes.

Step one, chop up some apples- any kind of apple- they are all wonderful.  I usually chop up about 6 or 7 apples and that makes a medium sized batch of applesauce.  I basically throw a slicer over them and cut each of those pieces in half.  The size really doesn’t matter. Throw them in a pot on medium low with a quarter cup or so of water.  Add some sugar if you want- I usually add a few tablespoons of brown sugar.  Sprinkle in a few shakes of cinnamon if you want- it’s up to you- it’s your applesauce!

Stir it up, put a lid on, and set a timer for 15 minutes.  After 15 minutes, stab them with a fork.  Are they soft yet?  If so, then you are almost done! Either grab a potato masher and smash those babies up for chunky applesauce or let your food processor make smooth appley magic- it’s up to you! Now eat it warm- it’s so amazing right off the stove.  I won’t judge you if you eat the whole batch.
